    The Humanitarian Disaster Institute (HDI) launched the M.A. in Humanitarian & Disaster Leadership (HDL) at Wheaton College to equip students to lead by integrating faith, evidence-based practice, and experience to serve the world's most vulnerable people and the global church.

    An M.A. in TESOL and Intercultural Studies provides teachers with a solid foundation in the field of TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). Designed for both novice and experienced English language teachers, this program is the standard professional degree for positions in universities, language institutes, community colleges, and adult education programs.

    • Learn from faculty who have served internationally and have published key books in the field of TESOL.
    • Expand upon learning through internships and research tailored to the goals of students.
    • Pursue additional academic options such as ESL and bilingual education endorsements and Institute for Cross-Cultural Training certificates.
    • Receive training through a program affiliated with two of the largest international teaching organizations, ELIC and TeachBeyond.

    Wheaton College offers two licenses for Master of Arts programs, the Elementary (1-6) License and the Secondary (6-12) License and is offered as an accelerated program for current Wheaton College undergraduate students as well as for candidates who graduated from another four-year college/university. These programs are for those seeking an initial teaching license.

    • Obtain an elementary (grades 1–6) endorsement. An ESL, Bilingual, or Special Education endorsement can be added.
    • Pursue a middle school (grades 5–8) and/or a high school (grades 9–12) endorsement in a subject area in English, mathematics, history/social science, science, or foreign languages.
    • Deepen your understanding of the integration of faith and learning through the coursework.
